Studio stuff, for the curious or bored...
note: this gear list is several years out of date - new studio information may be forthcoming at the new site, but there are other priorities right now!

MOTU's Digital Performer (Macintosh) is my audio recorder/MIDI sequencer of choice for studio production work. I use Vision (created by the long defunct Opcode) in theatrical/live performance situations because of its ability to instantaneously trigger sequences.

My project studio is based on a 867 MHz G4 Macintosh running Digital Performer (digital audio routed by a MOTU 2408 interface, digital video through FireWire to a Canopus ADVC-100). I edit picture on a 1.5 GHz G4 PowerBook running Apple's Final Cut Pro with Apple's Motion for motion graphics and the Adobe Creative Suite (PhotoShop, Illustrator, etc.) for everything else. I also have a Tascam DA-88, Mackie 32x8 console, a few decent mics (see below), and an assortment of outboard compressors and reverb/fx units.

My main sound modules for music are the Roland XV-5080 (with 128 Mb of sample RAM), and GigaStudio 160 (running on a 1.4 MHz Athlon Thunderbird PC, under Windows 98SE). Sample libraries include Roland Orchestral, Garritan Orchestral Strings, Symphony of Voices, and several selections from the Dan Dean and XSample libraries.

I monitor on Tannoy PBM-8's (or through the little tv speaker on my 13" Sony video monitor when I'm mixing for home video), and will mix to whatever digital audio file format you require (sent to you on CD-ROM, audio CD, DA-88, DAT, or by Internet download).

Here's a list of additional sound sources and MIDI controllers:

Digidesign SampleCell II
Korg M1
Korg M3R
Korg X5DR
Roland MKS-70
Roland U220 (2)
Roland M-OC1
Roland R-8M
E-mu ProteusFX
Yamaha TX802
Kurzweil PC88

And of course I also use a terrific assortment of very talented musicians playing into one or several of the following microphones:

Audio Technica AT4050,
Audio Technica AT4041 (2),
AKG C1000 (2),
Shure SM57, or
Shure Beta58
