The President hears my music in "The Height of the Sky"!
Film director Lyn Clinton's feature "The Height of the Sky," received a showing Feb. 17, 2000 for then President Clinton and his guests in the White House screening room.
Hopefully the president listened through the closing credits and got to hear vocalist Holly Ruth Gale and cellist Kristin Smith on the end title music, which I composed for the film.
Trumpet player Tom Richeson, woodwind player Rex Perry, and guitarist Michael Carenbauer are heard elsewhere in the film coming from the radio in 1930's-style swing tunes that I also composed and recorded for the project.
"The Height of the Sky" got some great press in Variety and the Los Angeles Times resulting from the Dances with Films Festival showing in Santa Monica in 1999. The film screened at several other festivals that year, including Telluride (CO) IndieFest (Best Dramatic Feature), Savannah (GA) Film Festival, RiverRun Film Festival at Brevard, NC, and the Breckenridge (CO) Festival of Film. Congratulations to Lyn, and best wishes for her continued success!
